What is GuluWalk?
GuluWalk is a fundraising and awareness event for children affected by one of the longest running conflicts in Africa, specifically northern Uganda. This event aims to bring attention to the conflict that has affected more than 40,000 children over the past few decades. These children, known as “night commuters”, have had to walk distances of more than 10km each night to avoid being abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army to become soldiers and slaves. GuluWalk was started as an awareness event by Adrian Bradbury and Kieran Hayward who walked 12.5km each night from their homes to sleep on the steps of the City Hall in downtown Toronto. GuluWalk has since grown to more than 30,000 participants, 100 countries and 16 countries and helps fundraises to support projects by Athletes for Africa to help the rebuilding process in northern Uganda.
