The 2013 Ugandan Independence Day celebration was a success! Thanks to everyone who came or helped with the preparation — We could not have done it without you!
Thanks to those who attended the AGM held on Feb 2, 2013.
Some key elements that came out the meeting were:
- Voting and Filling New and existing Executive Membership Roles
- Membership fee of $20 agreed upon to help with UCAM administration items
- Agreement on planning for 2013 Independance Day Celebrations (Oct 9th weekend)
Time flies these days. Already we are in 2013 and I noted that throughout 2012 our association was not as active through our website as we would have liked to be. So I’ve decided to sum up the highlights of 2012 into a few paragraphs.
Our community this year was hit by sadness this year. Two members of our association passed away. It was a big blow to us all myself included. We grieved, we cried and we came together to support one another. And while thoughts of our loved ones will always bring emotions we are comforted that they have joined the Lord in Heaven.
We also had moments this year were we celebrated. We celebrated new members joining our association. We celebrated student members graduating and we celebrated 50 years of independence for uganda.
And if that wasn’t enough Ugandans all joined in congratulating our native son Stephen Kiprotich on medalling at the Olympics.
So as we look on to 2013. We hope for good healthy, good food and good laughter amongst friends and family. Happy New Year!
